I gave it up. The hair dye. I have great white hair, blends with my skin. I enjoy my age and grateful for it. My Nother changed her passport to be younger. Long time ago. I never knew her real age until close to her death. We are all different .Thank you
I stopped coloring my hair during the first year of the pandemic and I've never regretted it. The other day I went to the theater and afterward, at a restaurant, a woman came up to me and said she was sitting four rows behind me. "Your hair is beautiful!" she told me. It made my day. Actually, my week, maybe my month . . .
In a dress store at 3pm on Friday...reminds me of something I saw recently that went like "You can tell someone has done well in life if they go to the gym at 10am". Good for you. And the hair looks excellent.
Agreed--they either did well or got old. I used to sneak out of work sometimes mid morning for a workout and wonder, "who are these people and how do they get to do this?"
Rothschild strikes again (a chord, that is…) such hilarious daily observations, and so often so poignant. I wanna grow up to be like you but I’m running out of time
I love the vulnerability and humor of this post. Go Mark! The truth is that you are hardly retired—no more R word. Not that it would be bad it just doesn’t describe the value you add on your boards and advising leaders across sector. At the same time, how lucky are you to be able to slow down and smell the roses. #bestofbothworlds.
I gave up the hair dying regiment about 15 years ago. My chosen color was a beautiful shade of auburn that fit my fair skin, and very few people knew it wasn't natural. But I was tired of the farce, the hassle and the expense. So, for the next six months I reported regularly to my stylist for a haircut minus the dye. And each time, she warned me saying, "You're not going to like this." During this grow-out period I told no one, I simply wore stylish hats and pretty scarves.
Then the day came when the last bits of auburn were clipped away, and there I sat, with a head of white hair with only a few dark streaks in the back. And I felt absolutely free!
I have a son almost your age. Chances are good you are going to be around a long time. Be a writer. An artist. A consultant. and most of all, be a good guy. Life really is short...the 70's fly by and you'll still be asking yourself the same questions at 80.
I'm a 71 year old woman who retired 5 years ago. I retired because I EARNED IT and I'm PROUD of that accomplishment. I spent my life running businesses and making other people money. Now I run around with my Grandkids and I feel extremely blessed and honored.
WHO CARES WHAT ANYONE THINKS ABOUT YOUR STATUS IN LIFE. Just you should care.

My hair is silver, as in actual shiny silver color. I feel so blessed.
Dude, you look great and are fortunate. Enjoy all of it. Cheers!
Relevant? No, not really.
I color my hair for me. I prefer the way it looks. If I look younger, that's a plus. I like the contrast with my pale skin tone.
External validation is inconsistent, and therefore an unreliable source of reinforcement.
You have a nice full head of hair. That, in and of itself, is a youthful look.
